Google alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.
Google alerts are a great way to keep abreast of developing news stories, keeping an eye on posts about your business or competitors, etc. and are very easy to setup.
Head over to Google alerts and enter the alert criteria you want to be notified about, then click the <Create Alert> button,
Any results Google finds that match your criteria will be emailed to you,
You can further refine your alerts by entering using advanced search operators.
You can manage your alerts by clicking on,
Click on the <Edit> button and edit as required,
It is as simple as that to create Google Alerts.
Filtering information and having it delivered to you has never been so easy.

If I'm understanding you right, you want to embed and display news articles in your website?I'm not sure how to embed this using Google Alerts. However, you might want to do this via Tweetizen – http://thesocialmediaguide.com/2009/05/26/fi…You can specify keywords (like in Google Alerts) and you will have a real-time stream of news, automatically updated around those specific words.If you have a look at the end of my article.. To answer your question, I honestly don't know whether Google sees pages with a .htm, .aspx, .php extension, any more favourably than the other.. I assume Google doesn't care what extension your page has.What I can tell you is that Google has many, many different criteria (not just page extension) that it uses to determine how popular your website is, and how high it ranks in search results, when someone does a search.Some of these criteria include,* How many other sites link to yours* Of these sites that link to yours, are they of the same genre* Of these sites that link to yours, how high do THEY rank* What sites does your's link to* Unless your outbound links have a "nofollow" tag, then any sites you link to that have a lower rank or 'bad' reputation, then this can drag your site's ranking down* Page titles – do they reflect the content of that page* Description meta tag – does this description accurately summarise the page's content* Are your site's URLs descriptive* Keywords – are the keywords that you have assigned to a page what people would actually type into Google when searching, and are these keywords found in the content of your page* Anchor text* Images – are their names reflective of the content on that page* Does your site have a sitemap* How often is the content updatedHas your site been submitted to Google – http://www.google.com.au/addurl/These are just some of the things Google uses to determine how popular your site is. Hi Matt,Thank you for your wonderful blog on social media marketing. Just like to understand better about google friendly webpage…i heard different versions about having "htm" as webpage is not friendly to google search results whilst having "aspx" or "php" can maximise google traffic because it is not static. May i ask what's the difference and which one is more beneficial?

To really the most out of Google Alerts, you also need to learn some of the special Google search terms, such as site: to search specific types of domains, like .edu. If you combine this with other search operators, like filetype:, you can find anything you want.
