[EDIT - 01 July 2010 - Please see my post on Branding your Tweets with your Website's URL using MarketMeTweet (Tweetbrand's successor)]

[EDIT- 19 June 2010 - I have received a number of emails from people advising that this tool is no longer free. After emailing MarketMeTweet about their tool TweetBrand, I received the following reply,

Last night tweetbrand stopped working, so we had to redirect temporarily, but here's the deal with tweetbrand: we will be replacing it with another free tool but we can't support it anymore. It's not our best work (whereas MarketMeTweet is very thought out) and it winds up getting more support requests than we can handle mostly because people don't love following videos icon wink How to Brand your Tweets with Your Websites URL .  We haven't made a big deal about it, and up until this week we were letting people download it, but with all the fail whales that Twitter was experiencing with the world cup (see article on mashable about that) it's been problematic. ]

Whether you use CoTweet, Hootsuite, Seesmic, Tweetdeck, Twitter’s Web interface, a mobile Twitter client, or the hundreds of other Twitter clients.. every time you send out a tweet you are advertising their product.. with a link back to their website,

  1. If I'm right you should buy a price plan in marketmetweet in order to get tweetbrand, isn't it?

  2. Hi Everyone, I wanted to apologize for the tweetbrand page not redirecting as of late. We had some problems with the app and we're trying to get it back, but it really wasn't our best work, whereas our FULL app, MarketMeTweet, is. I am so sorry, Matthew wrote such a tremendous article, but software moves fast and things do change. If you have any questions let me know, and SocialMediaGuide has been in contact with me recently so hopefully will be able to bring you more news soon!

    Best,
    Tammy

great application but TweetBrand is not free…

    • It looks like the people at MarketMeTweet have some technical issues with TweetBrand and have since removed it from their site.

Please read Tammy's response to an email I had sent her regarding this.. she is the owner of MarketMeTweet.

Am I to late? Because it isnt so FREE for me?!

  5. Can you confirm that if you do this you can not use tools like HootSuite, Tweetdeck, or Objective Marketer. It does look like a valuable tool, however, these tools are very useful for other things.

  6. David says:

Matt, I couldn't get this to work. It fails at the point just after Setup Tweet Brand > "Enter your Consumer Key and your Consumer Secret that you generated from Twitter prior". It goes straight past the popup where you should enter your Consumer Key and Consumer Secret. Bugger.

This has been sitting in my Google Reader for nearly two weeks now but finally got around to doing this. Thanks as always for the easy-to-follow instructions.

  10. This is really great! Congrats to MarketMeTweet, and this is also a great post.

  11. M@tt says:

Gday mate.. thanks for the comment.I hear exactly what you are saying.. I think at some point in the future the other big Twitter clients will bring this functionality/option on board. But until then, this one is the way to go if you want to brand your own tweets.

  12. M@tt says:

Yes that is correct.. currently…To send out tweets that has your own site's URL, you have to use this Twitter client. That will most certainly change in the future.. as demand for this increases I'm sure the other big Twitter clients will bring this functionality on board..Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for writing about this. I've seen it before, but my understanding is that you can't use it with HootSuite, TweetDeck, or any of the other apps for managing Twitter. Is this the case? And thanks for a wonderful blog — I've been reading it for some time now!

Thanks very much! And glad you got some value from this post!CheersMatt————————————————–
