How to Block Certain People on Facebook Chat

Sometimes when you jump on Facebook chat, don’t you wish you could block certain people from seeing that you are online?

Maybe you aren’t in a chatty mood, or are just too busy this time around to chat to a particular friend.

Or maybe you are friends with someone.. but you aren’t that close to them.

Stopping short of actually unfriending them, you can block certain people from seeing that you are on Facebook chat.

Here’s how..

Creating a List

You first need to create a list, then add those people that you want to block on Facebook chat.. to that list.

Login to Facebook –> Click on Friends –> Then click on <Create a list>,

Enter the name of the list that will contain those people that you want to block on Facebook chat,

Now click on those people that you want to add to this list.. ie those people that you want to block on Facebook chat –> then click on <Create List>,

At any time, you can easily see who is in this list by clicking on Friends –> Blocked on Chat,

Now sign into your Facebook chat.

As you can see, the person I want to block on Facebook chat is online.. and also a member of my newly created list,

And this person can also see me online too (I am using a second PC with my friend here during the making of this post),

Now in your Facebook chat session, click on the green Go Offline switch,

This list is now offline,

Whoever is in this list can no longer see that you are online.

As you can see from my friend’s Facebook chat session.. I am no longer visible to them,

Easy!

You now know how to block certain people on Facebook chat.

To re-enable this list so blocked people can see you again.. just click on the Go online switch,

Editing Blocked People

If you want to add or remove people to this blocked list.. or even delete the list entirely, click on Account –> Edit friends,

Click on your Blocked on Chat list.. and to add or remove people, click on <Edit list>,

Then just select/unselect those people that you want to add/remove.. then click on <Save list> when you are done,

To delete this list completely, just click on <Delete list?>,

There you have it.

You can know block certain people on Facebook chat!
